What is Scheepjes Candy Floss and what makes it different?

Scheepjes Candy Floss is a mercerised organic cotton thread with GOTS certification, designed for fine embroidery, Sashiko and micro crochet rather than for making complete garments. Its No. 10 (Lace) weight, high twist and softly lustrous finish produce very crisp, controlled stitches, even in the smallest details.

Unlike a standard cotton yarn for knitting or crochet in a Fingering or DK weight, this thread is much finer and firmer: as a non-divisible 2-ply thread, it does not fray or split while you work with it, which is particularly useful when sewing or embroidering on a small scale. Each pack contains 5 x 20g balls (165m each), giving you around 825m in total and an impressive amount of meterage for its size.

With 0.75 to 1.25 mm needles or crochet hooks, you can create micro crochet pieces and mini amigurumi with a very neat finish. If you want a little more body, you can work with the thread held double and use a slightly larger needle or crochet hook; always make a small swatch before starting the final piece to check the tension.

How to work with and care for projects made with Candy Floss: useful tips
